The computer mouse’s original name wasn’t so catchy: The “X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System”. They thankfully changed the name when they noticed the wire looked kinda like a mouse tail. The mouse was designed by Douglas Engelbart who wanted to find a way to make computers easier to use.
