Valentine’s Day was first introduced to Japan in 1936 and has since become a hugely popular holiday. However, an error in translation by a chocolate company, led to women being the only to buy Valentine chocolates for their spouses, boyfriends, or friends on Valentine’s Day. It has even become a special day and, for many, the only day of the year where a single woman will reveal their crush on a man by gifting him chocolate.
